Telehealth Information

Will my session still be private?

Absolutely. Confidentiality and your privacy are of utmost importance to us. We follow HIPAA and state regulations for protecting your privacy and our telehealth platform Zoom Video Communications Inc. (ZOOM), Is also HIPAA compliant. There are always risks with telehealth services, including, but not limited to, the possibility that: the transmission of your confidential information could be disrupted or distorted by technical failures or interrupted by unauthorized persons, and/or the electronic storage of counseling information could be accessed by unauthorized persons. Additionally, there are limitations to confidentiality both in-person and with telehealth.

Is telehealth right for me?*

Telehealth offers several benefits to face-to-face counseling such as removing barriers related to travel. For individuals with challenging work schedules, telehealth may allow for more flexibility to fit your schedule. The research shows that online counseling is as effective as face-to-face counseling. However, there may be situations when telehealth services may not be appropriate or helpful and face-to-face counseling would be advised. For example, if you are in need of more intensive psychotherapy, are in crisis or simply prefer meeting with a therapist in person in order to disclose important information, telehealth services may not be the best fit. If you are unsure, our clinicians can speak with you and provide guidance and options.

*Telehealth services may not be appropriate for all situations; BHAB, GJFS and their clinicians may determine that due to certain circumstances, telehealth is no longer appropriate and that services must resume in-person.

Can I do couple or family counseling online?

Of course, you may. We will send you the necessary forms to complete and return back to us. For couples and family sessions, it is important that all members can be seen easily by the clinician on the call.

Do you do video or phone therapy?

Currently, we are only offering telehealth services using video conferencing.

Do you offer flexible hours?

Yes, we do.

As a new patient, can I take advantage of online counseling services?

Yes! We will send you the appropriate paperwork to complete prior to your initial session with your therapist.

I am currently a patient at your office, but I have only done face-to-face counseling. Am I eligible to do online or tele-counseling?

Absolutely. Please speak with your clinician. Your clinician may determine, due to your situation or circumstances, whether telehealth is right for you. If you both decide that telehealth is a good fit, we will need to complete a few additional forms to authorize us to provide telehealth services.
