The RAK PAK (Random Acts of Kindness) provides an array of new and gently used clothing and hygiene products to families of limited income to help build their self-respect and self-esteem.

The RAK PAK was founded in 2011 by a core group of community volunteers, and it came under the auspices of Goodman JFS of Broward in December 2018 to expand its reach to those in need in the community. The goal is to meet this basic need for at-risk families so that they can focus on handling the other stressors in their lives, such as securing a steady source of income or finding a permanent housing solution. Most of the clients come from Goodman JFS’ services, but referrals also come from other agencies.

Recently, the RAK PAK hosted a Back-to-School Supply Drive. The team raised funds for 350 school backpacks for students in elementary, middle, and high school.

“We believe that when kids have the tools they need to do their work, they thrive,” said Ivy Feinstein, co-founder of the RAK PAK. “We were inspired to start this project as a way to give children in our community the very best opportunity to achieve academic success while beginning the new school year with dignity.”
