Start a Community Project

Get involved. Give back. Create lasting impact.

Goodman Jewish Family Services offers meaningful project opportunities for individuals, families, community groups and students who want to support our mission and help those in need. Whether you’re planning a Bar or Bat Mitzvah project, organizing a service initiative with your congregation or looking for a hands-on way to give back, we welcome your involvement.

Your efforts can help feed families in crisis, provide basic essentials to individuals experiencing hardship and offer dignity, support and hope to thousands of people across Broward County.

Ways to Get Involved

Host a Food Drive

Support the Dorit & Ben J. Genet Cupboard, our kosher food pantry, by collecting non-perishable items. Drives can be hosted by schools, workplaces, synagogues or neighborhoods.

Impact: Helps keep our shelves stocked to serve hundreds of local households each month

Create Toiletry Kits

Assemble kits with essential hygiene items like toothpaste, deodorant, soap and socks for individuals facing homelessness or financial instability. This is a great hands-on activity for families or groups.

Impact: Provides dignity and comfort to those struggling to meet basic needs

Organize a Clothing or Item Collection

Help stock our RAK PAK Clothing Closet by collecting new or gently used clothing, shoes or toiletries. We’re especially in need of undergarments and professional attire.

Impact: Ensures that clients of all ages have access to clean, appropriate clothing

Start a Fundraiser

Rally your community or celebrate a milestone by raising funds for Goodman JFS. Past campaigns have included peer-to-peer fundraisers or requests for donations in lieu of gifts for a birthday or anniversary.

Impact: Supports life-changing services like mental health counseling, emergency financial assistance and food support

Mitzvah Projects & Teen Involvement

Planning a Bar or Bat Mitzvah? Teens can take on customized mitzvah projects that reflect their passions while making a real difference. From hosting drives to raising funds, mitzvah projects are a meaningful way to connect with the Jewish value of tikkun olam—repairing the world.

Examples include:

  • Organizing a food or clothing drive
  • Assembling toiletry or care kits
  • Leading a peer-to-peer fundraiser

We’ll work directly with you and your family to create a mitzvah project that’s personal, purposeful and impactful.
