Joshua’s Path: Plan for Life

What will happen to my adult son or daughter when I am no longer able to care for him or her?

What parent of a child with disabilities has not asked that very question? Parents, siblings or other family caregivers of adults with disabilities are seeking assistance with finding appropriate community resources and providers who will address the unique needs of their loved one. They are most in need of guidance with planning for their family member’s future. Joshua’s Path was created by the Jewish Federation of Broward County and Goodman Jewish Family Services of Broward to provide information, support and advocacy in the life planning process for adults with developmental disabilities.

Joshua’s Path is here to provide you with referrals that will help you put in place the necessary supports and arrangements for when you are no longer able to provide care. We will guide you to the appropriate providers and resources in the community that best fit your loved one’s needs – be they funded services, financial or legal arrangements, residential options, vocational assistance or social/recreational needs. Joshua’s Path is a FREE service open to any family member residing in Broward County who is a caregiver to an adult with a developmental disability.

Broward County Jewish Abilities Alliance:

The Broward County Jewish Abilities Alliance (BCJAA) links individuals with disabilities and their families to resources and services within the community.  Known as a “one-stop shop for families,” users are able to filter their searches by ages and needs, making it extremely easy to navigate.  Broward County is one of five regions across the country to create a Jewish Abilities Alliance directory of resources.  This comprehensive directory includes resources in both the Jewish and secular communities, specifically geared for families in Broward County who have a loved one with a disability.

For more information or assistance with navigating the BCJAA website, please contact Sharlene Glassman, Program Manager for Joshua’s Path, at 954-909-0847 or email bcjaa@jfsbroward.org.
