Through the eyes of a child These stories are about real events in the lives of our clients’ children and illustrate how much our services impact them. In our society, children often suffer in ways that are invisible, even to their parents and relatives.
“My name is Amy. I’m 10 years old. My daddy left our family when mommy was in the hospital. We don’t know where he is. Mommy lost her job. My two brothers and me live in a motel with mommy. Some days we have food. Sometimes I only eat at my school. We go to our old school because a special bus for homeless kids picks us up and brings us home.
“Sometimes the kids at school make fun of us because we come on the bus for homeless kids. We leave the motel at 7:00 in the morning and don’t get home until 5:00 at night. Mommy called Jewish Family Service. They are going to help us pay the rent and get new clothes for me and my brothers. They also help with food. We hope mommy will get another job.
Help your donation go further. Let JFS save paper and trees and put more of your donation $$ to work assisting the needy. In the future, we want to email you the newsletter and many of our regular mailings.
Please provide us with your name and email address at www.jfsbroward.org/contact us. With your cooperation, another family can overcome a financial emergency, another senior can get needed care, a child can receive counseling or an abused spouse can break the cycle of violence.
There is hope for thousands under the canopy of our services. But we can't do it alone. A leaf on the JFS Tree of Life will be your legacy to future generations. Be a part of our tree. See page 9
