JFS provides care management for the elderly and the disabled through several programs that serve our clients and their adult children when they cannot be there in times of need. Our senior services are affordable and provide detailed, informative and comprehensive assistance. JFS professional care managers evaluate and assess each senior’s needs and develop a comprehensive plan, which includes in-home services, crisis intervention, help obtaining benefits, and medical, legal and social problem solving.
Funded through a grant from the Conference on Material Claims Against Germany and the Jewish Community Foundation of Broward, the Holocaust Survivors Assistance Program reflects our deep commitment to ensure the aging population of survivors receives the care it needs. JFS provides in-home care, respite care, counseling, financial assistance and a social component for hundreds of survivors in Broward County.
Seniors In Need offers immediate assistance to those over the age of 60 in emergency situations. The JFS Care Managers provide short-term aid to help the clients achieve stability on their own; this may include home care, cleaning, counseling and limited financial support. Clients are also referred to other resources in the community, ensuring that they will be able to maintain the positive changes. The Care Managers also assist the seniors with applying for Medicaid or other government programs.
In-Home Counseling
JFS counselors provide in-home therapy through a variety of programs including Medicare, the Red-Cross- Hurricane Wilma program and others. For more information, please call 954-370-2140 and ask for Counseling.
Home Care
Jewish Family Service does not provide personal care and homemaker services, but refers to reputable local home-health agencies for those needing assistance with activities of daily living, whether full or part-time. Home care is an important component of safety when a frail senior is coming home from the hospital or rehab facility. These services are often covered by long-term care insurance, the Veterans Administration and other agencies.
