The experience of parachaplains is a richly rewarding one. Approximately 80 percent of BrowardCounty’s Jewish population of more than 200,000 is unaffiliated with a synagogue. In times of sickness and sorrow, a Jewish presence can be truly healing. So many in Broward County nursing homes and hospitals do not have access to a rabbi. A parachaplain may choose a wide variety of jobs related to Jewish healing and ritual practice. Our parachaplains make regular rounds in local hospitals to visit the sick.
Jewish Healing Center volunteers also act as prayer leaders, regularly conducting Sabbath and other holiday services at nursing homes, assisted living facilities and other locations where they feel called to do so.Parachaplaincy volunteers may also help our office staff arrange for a rabbi to attend families in the hospital, or hospice and set up burial or other services though the Jewish Healing Center office.
